Robinson was charged with second-degree assault, a class D felony punishable by up to seven years in state prison. Because second-degree assault is classified as a violent felony it carries a minimum two-year prison sentence.

Assisting with the investigation were Corp. Robinson, who had previously been charged with drug offenses and jailed in May, was arrested June 8 by Deputy Michael Wade and charged with first-degree falsifying business records, a class E felony; second-degree criminal impersonation, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and violations of state vehicle and traffic law.

The arrest stemmed from a traffic stop Wade initially made March 22 on Interstate in the Town of Avon. Wade issued traffic tickets to the operator of the vehicle based on information provided to him by the driver. Robinson was arrested on numerous felony drug charges. During the May investigation, Wade realized that it was Akeem Robinson that had been driving the vehicle in the March traffic stop.
Livingston County Jail
Robinson was jailed on the May drug charges, which included third-degree criminal possession of narcotic drugs with intent to sell, fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia. Robinson was allegedly in possession of more than 4 grams of crack cocaine and methamphetamine.
Meanwhile, Wade continued his investigation of the March 22 traffic stop, which led to the charges filed in June. Robinson had previously served time in state prison following convictions in Steuben County of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class B felony; and third-degree attempted criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class C felony.
He was sentenced to four years in prison.
